RIAA Presents Gold & Platinum Awards to Artists at Music Biz 2013 5.10.13

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) today announced the integration of streams to its historic Gold & Platinum (G&P) Program, the industry’s premier award for recognizing artistic achievement in the marketplace. On-demand audio and/or video song streams will now be counted towards the 500,000 (Gold), 1,000,000 (Platinum) and 2,000,000 plus (multi-Platinum) thresholds required for G&P’s Digital Single Award certification.

Cary Sherman, RIAA, presented these new awards to Cher Lloyd, Jason DeRulo, and Emeli Sandé at the Awards Dinner Party at Music Biz 2013.

Music Biz 2013 Attendees Take A Strolle Down App Alley 5.08.13

digitalmusic.org brought the popular App Alley popup demo and exhibit showcase back for a second year at Music Biz 2013. The event was held Wednesday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. It was designed to give established and aspiring app developers and service providers a chance to put their products in front of a high-powered audience, while allowing industry executives to get a first look at the powerful new innovations set to impact the music business in the year ahead.
